DEPARTMENT OF MICROBIOLOGY

The Oral microbiology section of CRL offers several testing protocols which are simple, unique, affordable and can be performed with either clinical isolates or ATCC standard cultures of a number of oral microbes. These assays include :

  • Anaerobic culture facilities with an indigenous gas generation system that supplies the growth of all cultivable oral anaerobic bacteria.
  • Anti bacterial assays to determine Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Bactericidal Concentration(MBC), anti fungal and time kill curve assays.
  • Synergism test for checking the antibacterial effect of the combination of 2 different compound at different concentration.
  • Anti biofilm assays with monospecies and multispecies biofilm on different substrates and their analysis by culture dependent microscopy and molecular techniques.
  • Protocols to validate antimicrobial efficacy of preparation such as mouth washes, irrigates solutions, gel, toothpaste, herbs formulations, nano formulations etc.
  • Anti tubercular assays by microplate alamar blue assay (MABA) using H37RV strain of M. tuberculosis.

We also perform cultivation and antibiotic susceptibility testing of medically important bacteria of various clinical samples.

Our strength is technical expertise and capability to develop custom made protocols to fulfill the objectives of any studies.
