DEPARTMENT OF IMMUNOLOGY AND BIOCHEMISTRY

img Detection of microbe specific antibodies or antigens is an integrate part of disease diagnosis, prognosis and epidemiology. In addition, testing of different cytokines and interleukins help to investigation and gain knowledge about the pathological process/mechanism of any disease. Based on this concept, CRL has established infrastructure and developed protocols to assist researchers. These include :

1. Enzyme Immuno assays

  • ELISA - for detection and quantitation of microbial antigens and specific antibodies.

  • Detection and quantitation of interleukins and cytokines from tissues and body fluids such as saliva, serum, and gingival crevicular fluid.

  • Development of in house ELISA for specific studies where commercial kits are not available.

2. Immuno Chemistry
  • Immunohistochemistry for detection of cell surface markers in cancer and various infections and non infectious diseases.
  • Immunocytochemistry for detection of cell surface antigens for identification and characterization of different cell population such as stem cells, fibroblasts, epithelial cells etc.

3. Immunofluorescence
  • Direct, indirect and multiplex formats for detection and semiquantitation of microbial antigens.

4. Proteome studies
  • With different formation of electrophoresis and Chromatography.

5. Phagocytic function tests
  • Screening assays to test for different activities of neutrophils and monocytes such as chemotaxis, phagocytosis, intracellular killing and respiratory burst.
